Shantibaba took the strain with him and created a new cannabis strain using the original Brazilian sativa and the South Indian indica-dominant hybrid. But, because GHS was still selling their seeds using the name White Widow, Shantibaba renamed his strain Black Widow. He wanted to distinguish his unique cannabis strain from his competitors’.
Since Mr. Nice Seeds has the proprietary genetic properties of Black Widow, the strain is now believed by many breeders as the White Widow strain in seed form. To this end, both avid users and marijuana growers love this cannabis strain.

Patience is required to grow Black Widow because this is not a fast-growing strain. It begins to flower within 70 to 90 days, depending on the phenotype. There are however two types of known phenotypes for the Black Widow. There is a short and fast variety, and there is a tall and slow option. The buds of this strain are purple-colored and can look almost black. Green-to-purple buds of this plant look like licorice covered in frost, with orange-colored hairs.
